Thank you, this put an end to my most-part-of-the-day MySQL install suffering :)

To anyone who may benefit from this - it also works in windows 7, you only have to click "Advanced system settings" in the computer properties.

Also note that if you have a shell already open, then you will have to restart it to put the changes done to the PATH variable into effect.

What I should have asked is are there any systems that have the functionality of Vbulletin as well as the social aspect of allowing users to interact with each other and create blogs in order to build up a community online. I was looking at vBulletin but I'm not certain that it does that fully.

We are currently looking at Vbulletin to build a forum and online community, I know you recommend IPB but are there any other alternatives for a community based software solution?

Thank you!

IT is goodFirst thing you need to do is buy the hardware. No need to spend a lot of money. You should easily be able to build a home server for less than $500. The first thing you’ll need is a motherboard. You should buy a motherboard that has integrated graphics. Most motherboards will have this. For a server you don’t need the latest and greatest video adapter. You can get a cheap motherboard with integrated graphics for le

I all, I’m actually new to all this, but I wish to build a forum, and I’m doing a bit of research. I am used to PHPLD admins and widgets, but I am not technically minded. So if not vBulletin who do you guys suggest I go with?

If you followed the steps in this article then php would be working. Back track and do each step as outlined. Do not use the php installer use the zip archive. It sound like you tried to install with the exe.
