Thanks for the help in advance. I've set up a test environment using two 2008 servers. One is set up as the TS Gateway, the other is the DNS Server. My problem is I can connect via RD when connected to my local LAN, but I can't connect when connected to the Internet at another location. Any help would be appreciated. :thumbsup:

Hi,

on a Windows Server 2008 x64 machine we are trying to load a dll from a COM executable under a particular local user (added to local Administrators group).

The problem is not caused by the dll itself, because we have written a small program that calls that dll successfully.

We experience the problem from a .NET web application that runs under an AppPool configured with the same custom user. In the web application we get the following error:

System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80029C4A): Error loading type library/DLL. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80029C4A (TYPE_E_CANTLOADLIBRARY))

we were thinking about a permission problem, so we set the full control to that specific user on the folder where the dll is and also on IIS application pool the Web application runs under.

Is there something new in Windows Server 2008 regarding security issues and/or COM dlls?

Hi members, I have a directory, I´d need a user login with a strict restriction, that would be the following: the user can open all of the files BUT only 2 files / per day.
Is there any chance to count the openings, is there a script for this?

Hi,

I have a problem with windwos server 2008 over remote desktop. My application needs hardware graphic acceleration which i can't tzurn on

I only see the "RDPDD Chained" Adapter at the display config dialog and i can't go to advanced settings to turn the hardwareacceleration on. I have a Ati fireGL v3100 installed in the system. Is there any possibility to get this working?

Hey guys, I just setup server 2008 on a desktop I just bought and I am having trouble setting up active directory/dns. I had done this before on a virtual machine somewhere like a year ago, but now when I tried to re-create that everything failed. It says the AD DS is installed as well as the DNS server, but I cannot get any windows machines to join the domain. It keeps giving me errors saying things like the domain controller cannot be contacted. Any help would be appreciated as I have spent many hours trying to fix this, haha. In any case, the searching I've done has led me to run a dcdiag /v, so I don't know what all information you guys need to help me fix it, but here it is:

-Computer name = Server
-FQDN = warmachine000.homeip.net
-Server 2008 is fully updated
-All computers on network can ping each other through ip and comp. name
-nslookup of the domain fails even when dns server is set to the Domain Controller's (in my case, Server).

Hi everyone,

I need to copy files over network between servers with O.S. win srv 2008.
I need to do a cmd script so i'm looking for command line solution, also I need to autenticate to the destination server so the command should give the possibility to pass user and password through an option.

I've already seen all windows commands but I didn't find nothing that can solve my problem.

Another thing: I don't want to use ftp services or third part software.

Anyone can help me please?

Hi Guys,

I have installed SBS2008 on some basic workstation hardware to save on costs (reliability is not important). Driver support seems OK except for video. Does anyone know of a server 2008 driver that might support ATI HD3200 onboard video. The motherboard is an ASUS M4A78-VM.

Please let me know if this is a pipedream and or if properly functioning video drivers are even important for a basic file server / exchange set up.

I have installed Windows Server 2008 since 3 and half months.
I have a strange problem right now.
I am unable to start any Microsoft update.It's showing the error code of 0x8024402c.
which i followed on internet but no possible solution.
I think i should restore my machine but from where can i find the tool?
one another problem is no single website of Microsoft is opening in my browsers.
be it IE, Mozilla, Chrome. i do not have any antivirus installed but i scan my computer with
loaded windows defender with definition update. i have searched for the problem but not found any correct solution. Currently I have installed Visual Studio 2005, Sql server 2005. and my internet connection is cable broadband. i have tow accounts.one is Administrator & other is limited one.can any one suggest anything.
