Updated: Extreme VB Closed, Domain Sold

Extreme VB is now closed and sold. It was and will always be the apple of my eye. I spent many years sharing the knowledge I obtained with many users. Once Visual Basic hit end of life it made less sense to keep the site open. Some Visual Basic programmers went onto the new Visual Studio .Net platforum and others, mainly the hobbyist like myself, either stopped programming or moved onto another platform. vBulletin v IPB – The Final Chapter

As some of you know I bought a site database. The site vBnt.net was a vbulletin site and is no longer online. I was going to convert it to IPB. Problem was it wouldn’t convert. I have done my share of vbulletin to IPB conversions, over 20 in fact, for myself and clients and this is the first time I could not work through the conversion issues so I just upgraded to the latest stable release of vbulletin, version 4.1.1.

New General Talk Forum – Closed

I recently, yesterday in fact, bought a database to vbnt.org a general discussion forum. It isn’t a large community. It’s perfect to start with though. It has 539 members and a little over 7,000 posts. The database was from a vbulletin 3.8.5 forum so I decided to use vbulletin 4 for this forum although I won’t rule out a future switch to IPB. I had bought the domain vbnt.net on speculation I would get the data. Turns out I got lucky there.

Forum Admin Communities

I recently resigned my admin position from a popular admin community that will remain nameless in this post. The reason for that will be clear in the end. Since that time many things have been bothering me about these communities with the exception of one. They refuse to join in any sort of alliance with each other that could and more than likely would benefit them all. Instead each has there own variation of the rule that you can not link to other admin forums.
